Work from home styles you can take back to the office

The Pacific Northwest has long enjoyed a relatively casual office dress code compared to our suit-and-tie wearing east coast counterparts. In our local tech industry offices, especially, you’re far more likely to see colleagues in hoodies rather than sport coats. Now that COVID-19 has so many people working from home, it’s easy to ditch chinos for sweatpants without getting chewed out by the boss. But what if you spend time on Zoom calls and still have to look presentable? Don’t worry, there are plenty of options that blend comfort and style. Best of all, these pieces are still professional enough to make the transition back to the office with you.

New York-based Mack Weldon is an emerging brand that has cultivated a loyal following by rethinking the fundamentals of fit and fabric. By using a variety of fabrics in innovative ways, they’ve been able to create clothes that are more stretchable, breathable, and better fitting. For a comfy work-from-home pant that’s still office appropriate, try the Radius pant. They’re easily mistaken for a typical chino, but feature water resistant performance stretch fabric, zippered pockets, and a jogger bottom. One note: the inseam is approximately 30” on every size, so taller guys may find them a bit too cropped. Pair the Radius pant with a knit wingtip like the Cole Haan ØriginalGrand for a deceptively dressed up look that’s equal parts business and casual.

The ØriginalGrand is far more lightweight and better cushioned than a traditional leather oxford.

Maybe you have an important video conference. Maybe, God forbid, you’ll have to put on a dress shirt and tie. Don’t worry, no one will know you’re wearing basketball shorts too. If you do end up needing to wear a dress shirt, at least go with something in a stretchy tech fabric like the options from WRK. The cotton spandex blend helps the shirt move with you and doesn’t need ironing. WRK shirts come in plenty of patterns and colors and feature a contrasting cuff and collar, giving them a little flair when the sleeves are rolled.
